visit to Whitby
Last Thursday, we went to Whitby, a small town in the northeast of York. It is famous for its food-- fish and chips. We tried it in the most famous restaurant-- The Magpie Cafe.
Whitby is also famous for a person--- Caption James Hook. He was born near Whitby and grew up in Whitby. He start his voyage from here and he discovered New Zealand and the east coast of Australia. All his ships were built in Whitby because Whitby was the main area where built the ships.
It is the museum of Caption Hook. It was a pity that the museum didn't open in the winter.
It was cold and snowing, and the scenery was very beautiful. We saw the ruined Abbey standing alone on the top of the cliff, the harbor full of boats, the door made of two whale's ribs, and the cemetery of 1880's located in the hill. All things I have seen made a deep impress on me for its beautiful appearance.

the experiment on animals
In Oxford, I saw the activity to promote protecting animals.
Conservationists gathered before the college, call on the public attention to the experiment with animals.
They think that we should not use animals to simulate the human——Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals and the answer is, “because the animals are like us.” Ask the experimenters why it is morally OK to experiment on animals and the answer is, “because the animals are not like us.” Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction.
· However, as a medical student, I attended the courses about medical experimental zoology. I believe that although animals’ sacrifices are great, but experiment on animal is necessary, at least the experiment for humans. In the development process, we humans will always do unfair things to the nature to promote our own benefit. Animal experiments are necessary in some areas which are closely linked to human life and safety. We do not want to see the situation that a drugs causes serious adverse as a consequent of not doing enough animal experiments (such as the thalidomide incident, it is 2 years after using the drug that doctors found the drug has serious teratogenicity effects and it caused very bad consequence).
·
· The body shop is a very famous cosmetics brand in UK, claiming that they do not experiment on animals, which appeals to the most British. However, natural substances processed and mixed will have an impact on the human body. The information about its effects on people can only be got from volunteers and consumers, we have to put a "?" to it.
More possible behavior is to do reasonable experiments on animal——selecting the appropriate animals, choosing the minimal and effective enough number of samples. On the other hand, we must have the attitude of gratitude for animal, protect the animals’ possible feelings in all aspects, such as animal husbandry, the experiment process, and even euthanasia methods should be considered.

· We thank to animals those who have gone and will be dedicated to the development of human medicine.

Manchester tour
Today we went to Manchester for a one-day trip. To visit to Manchester, the highlight thing is the visit to Old Trafford and Manchester United Museum. I'm not a fan of football games, but still interest in the history and scenery of this old stadium.
Manchester United has bigined to use this stadium as the home stadium from the 1910. But it was bombed during the 1941 World War II, and moved to Maine Road stadium, which is Manchester City's home field. The Old Trafford hadn't been complete reconstructed until 1949.
Old Trafford stadium has 76,000 seats. It is now the second largest stadium in England. Thousands of enthusiastic fans cheer for the victory when the Spectator sports take place here.
This is the players' channel, players embark on their fighting from here.
Manchester United's trophy museum recount its glorious history.
This is the dressing room, each player has a fixed position, which can be found according to the shirt. Of course, these shirts are just hanged on the wall for visitors to take photos.

a small introduction about Zhejiang University
Zhejiang University, known as the East Cambridge, also hav a very beautiful scenery. Qizhen Lake flow through the campus and import the canal near the medicine college, where there is a small pier. Zijingang Campus is the latest in a campus of Zhejiang University, all buildings there are new, giving a lively feel. The majority of students in Zijingang campus are of low-grade, we can find the road full of students after school and at dinner time.
Zhejiang University has five campuses, all of which have a lake or near the river, so the scenery there is very gentle, typical of the southern landscape.
Here are some beautiful photos of Zhejiang University.

visit in Oxford & Cambridge
Happy Chinese new year!
Last weekend we went to Oxford and Cambridge to have a look at the historic universities.
Unlike Chinese universities full of new bulidings, the architectures there are ambitious with the crumbling traces. The trees, the bridges, the buildings, the streets…… all of them have a histrical story. The town is the university, and the university is the town. we can't separate the university from the town of aspects as their lives mix together. We can see the students go through the small lane to the college and have their lessons in the big buildings. What a fantastic life they have!
